Learning for a better future

Casa Speranța (House of Hope)

Casa Speranța is an after-school educational project for Roma children. Many children grow up in difficult circumstances, requiring extra support. Each day, children receive guidance, structure, and personal attention in a safe and warm environment.

Although the children attend regular education, there is little support with schoolwork at home. Poverty, limited parental education, and difficult home situations can cause children to quickly fall behind.

After-school care helps children to:

▻ keep up with schoolwork
▻ build self-confidence
▻ experience structure and stability
▻ develop social skills
▻ have hope for the future

"At Casa Speranta I can simply be a child for a while. There, I receive love and feel accepted for who I am."

The origin of Casa Speranța

Thanks to the support of sponsors, a house was purchased and renovated into a center for education and care in 2007. Several rooms were transformed into classrooms, and a kitchen was added so that children could receive daily guidance, support, and a nutritious meal. Since opening its doors, Casa Speranța has grown into a place of hope and support for many children in the community.

More than just education

Parents and caregivers are also involved in the project. They receive guidance, advice, and support regarding the upbringing and development of their children. This enables them to better guide their children toward a brighter future.

Practical

Approximately 50 children between the ages of 6 and 14 currently receive support. That's the maximum amount of children due to the capacity of the building and its' teachers.

They receive:

▻ Homework tutoring
▻ Educational lessons
▻ A warm meal
▻ Personal attention and encouragement
▻ Education on hygiene and healthy eating
▻ Social skills coaching
▻ Useful items, rewarded by good behavior

Through play, education, and care, children gradually discover and develop their talents. This helps them dream about the future and take steps toward it.

More than opportunities

A story about perseverance and support

A few years ago, a shy boy joined the education program. After school hours, he did his homework, took part in activities, and gradually began to grow in confidence in himself and his future.

For 8 years, Casa Speranța was a place where he found support, encouragement, and people who believed in his potential. The path was not always easy, but thanks to hard work, perseverance, and continuous guidance, he was able to continue his education and build a better future.

He completed primary school and continued his studies at a secondary school in Cluj. He now has a job that allows him to support himself. He is independent, responsible, and an example of how education and support can change lives.

This is more than just a success story. It's proof that every child deserves a chance, needs a safe environment, and needs people who believe in them.
